BENEFITS
- Mucous Membrane Support- Much of the recent interest in this nutrient rich oil has focused on the role it plays in supporting mucous membranes. This issue tends to affect women more than men. Essential fatty acids, Omega-7 in particular, are well known for lubricating and nourishing mucous membranes throughout the body from those covering the eyes to the gastrointestinal tract and the membrane that lubricates the vaginal tissue. Sea buckthorn’s natural anti-inflammatory response properties may also help ease discomfort and irritation.
- Vision Support & Dry Eye- As we age, our eyes gradually deteriorate. Carotenoids, phytochemicals found naturally in sea buckthorn, may ease this process. Sea buckthorn also boasts high levels of Vitamin A, another essential nutrient for vision. In addition to these vision-supporting nutrients, sea buckthorn berry contains a high content of Omega-7 fatty acid, which, along with a high content of Omega-3, may ease symptoms of dry eyes by stimulating the natural lubrication response.
- Cardiovascular Health- Essential fatty acids, such as Omega-3 and 6 are well known for promoting a healthy heart, while vitamins E, A and B-complex as well as beta-carotene provide much needed antioxidants. Sea buckthorn contains high-levels of these nutrients, naturally making it an excellent everyday supplement to support a healthy cardiovascular system
- Hair, Skin and Nails- Sea buckthorn oil has been used for 1000’s of years for a variety of skin conditions. It’s been applied on wounds and burns to support skin cell regeneration. Due to a combination of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and all known omega fatty acids sea buckthorn oil is perfect for supporting skin issues and also those of the hair and nails. The supportive properties of this nutrient rich food can be gained from consuming the oil as well as applying it directly.
- Weight Management- In recent years, a couple of studies have surfaced that may indicate sea buckthorn use as a resource for weight management with a recommendation that using 500mg of sea buckthorn oil daily may help to manage bodyweight. It is thought the high Omega-7 content is the key component that provides this benefit.
